Moose Lake Wild Rice

This wild rice from Minnesota is hand harvested using the traditional canoe method.  The seeds are immediately dried over a wood fire and winnowed by skilled hands to produce this incredible grain.  

Compared to the jet black grains we've come to call "wild rice" in American grocery stores, this smoky-tasting, gray-colored grain is more tender, flavorful, nutritious, ecologically friendly, and, unfortunately, expensive.
